every day without you is an unending disaster:
spilled coffee inching slowly across my desk,
the long winded traffic jam,
smudged nail polish or the inky blood of a paper cut;
even these, small enough to amuse me once
undo me
without you.
every day without you is a solemn march from one alarm to another;
a getting up and lying down, a forced laugh and a casual, "i'm fine!"
with too much emphasis placed on the untrue adjective.
every day without you is just a boat
to get me to the safe harbor of your arms.
