I suggest you Don't use Quark PDf files, try writing PS and distilling in Acrobat Distiller instead. First you have a lot more controls and second, you are not using the MAC OS to crteate your PDF. I'm using Quark 6.5 and Acrobat 8.1 Professional on the Mac. If I use the print command and Distiller to make a pdf I don't have any problem. To create a PostScript file from QuarkXPress, go to the PDF pane of the Preferences dialog box (QuarkXPress/Edit > Preferences) and select Create PostScript file for Later Distilling. When you choose File > Export > Layout as PDF, QuarkXPress creates a PostScript file at the location you specify.
