Unless the Compiler is wholly deceived in himfelf, his at tempt to write a history of the virginia bap'rxs'rs, idid not spring, either from the love of money or the love of fame. To say that thefe things never entered his thoughts, would be sar ing what no one would believe. His motive was an ardent wiilt for the profperity of truth; which he really thought could be greatly promoted, bya plain and fimple exhibition of éod's deal. Ings towards his people.
