Ye olde Cornish fisherman with his mustard coloured gansey with an anchor on it, has still got one fish left in his nets that he's going to fry for his tea.
After a day at the seaside I was inspired to knit the fisherman tea cosy and its the gansey jumper he's wearing that makes him Cornish. I wanted my fisherman to look like one from by gone times, so he has traditional lobster pots and glass buoys, and he has a traditional look about him.
I based his face on an old photo that I found on Google image search of a real fisherman, he has podgy cheeks and a beard that framed his face rather than covered it.
At the back of the fisherman you can see the anchor on his gansey more clearly, and he has picked up a starfish that is casually creeping over the lobster pot.
I love this tea cosy; you can almost smell the sea and hear the seagulls.
It's a fun tea cosy to knit with lots of textured knitting.
A Cornish tea cosy for a Cornish tea.
