They planned to use the purge to assassinate Charlie. An old sergeant from the purge: anarchy, who nearly made a mistake of purging on the man who killed his son two years before this, is the head of the security and it is his mission to protect senator Roan from the night so she can live till the election is over. When purgers forced them into the streets of DC, they struggle to survive the night before the purge ends in 7am with the NFFA after them. Former Police Sergeant Barnes becomes head of security for Senator Charlie Roan, a Presidential candidate targeted for death on Purge night due to her vow to eliminate the Purge. I highly enjoyed The Purge: Election Day. It follows the spirit of it's predecessors and builds upon it. The actors all do a good job and the action is very solid. There wasn't really any point i felt i was bored throughout movie. The purging scenes in this movie are just as enjoyable to watch as before and the crazies in this movie are just as crazy as they have ever been. However this films biggest flaw i would say is that it's often a little too predictable, though that doesn't make it any less enjoyable. To people who are fans of thriller and action movies i would give this a watch. It's not without flaws, but it was honestly enjoyable enough that i would watch it again despite it's shortcomings. I only watched The Purge: Election Year because I kinda liked the other two, well at least I thought if I remember good. What I know for sure is that this one isn't good at all. The story is full of holes and things you wonder how they came up with it. I guess the script writers got a bit lazy with this one and just thought they could milk another movie out of the success of the other two. The actors are so-so, they clearly never will win any prize with their acting skills. Elizabeth Mitchell is like she is as usual, boring to watch. I don't know if it was her character or the fact that I can't stand her but I wished she died in almost all the scenes she appeared. Anyways, this movie just sucks, with a lot of bad passages. Don't waste your time. The film’s comical bluntness could also be construed as off putting, but to criticize that is to deprive yourself the joy of such pulp. And this is pulp, from the brazenness of its violence to the dull bite of its clunky dialogue.
