2NE1's Scream on Japan's Recochoku Chart [March 14th - March 20th]
2NE1 has released their first original Japanese song Scream recently in digital format on popular Japanese music distributor Recochoku. Weekly charts have been released by Recochoku so let's take a look at how the new single ranked.
For more information on what Recochoku is and how it works, check out this article: http://www.ygladies.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=24762
Weekly Rankings on Recochoku:
""Single Downloads:
Scream #60
Chaku-Uta:
Scream #28
Incoming Ringtone:
Scream (Bom Chorus Version) #52
Call Waiting Melody:
Scream #55
""
How does this stack up against previous releases? While Go Away managed to rank slightly higher its first week coming it at #25 on the Incoming Ringtone category and #47 in the Call Waiting Melody section, Scream has also ranked on the Singles Downloads chart and very high on the Chaku-Uta chart which previous 2NE1 releases had a difficult time charting on at all. This could mean their music is reaching a wider audience, which considering their scarce promotions thus far, is a very good thing. Monthly rankings will let us know if the song has staying power among new releases.
With most Kpop girl groups seeing a downward trend in sales, if 2NE1 can maintain or improve their rankings it will show that 2NE1 has staying power in the Japanese music industry. Their sales for their single and first full album Collection will be very important, so if you haven't per-ordered one or the other or better yet BOTH... DO IT! What are you waiting for?
