[ARTICLE] CL is Among the “5 Idols That Almost Debuted Elsewhere"
The process of becoming an idol seems pretty linear to the rest of the world; audition, get recruited, become a trainee, debut, get famous. But for some idols the road to stardom isn’t so easy. The path is often riddled with twists and turns, which lead them to other agencies and groups. Guess which five artists surprised us when we discovered they did the trainee shuffle long before officially launching their debuts within their current groups?
05. 2NE1‘s CL (YG Entertainment)
Almost Debuted Under: JYP
CL was a JYP trainee! According to an interview with JYP group 2AM, the reason for CL’s departure from JYP is “one of the greatest mysteries in the company." In the same interview, it was also revealed that JYP not only regretted letting CL go, but he was on the rampage for whoever cut solo singer IU from their 2008 auditions.
Other Idols who could’ve been in a another company are:
4. The Members of BEAST (Cube Entertainment); Almost Debuted Under: JYP, YG
3. SISTAR’s Hyorin (Starship Entertainment); Almost Debuted Under: JYP
