Happy fucking fourth. can we please think about this holiday for a second? apparently we are the freest nation in the world and we are declaring our independance today. i obviously will not be celebrating this nation's "history" today, and would encourage you to think about what this holiday means, how much of it is a brainwashing trick. this nation was founded by a group of white boys who raped and murdered an entire nation indigenous people becuase they wanted a new place to go. This is not okay, and the price of this "indepandance" will never be repayed to the families who had to watch thier children be murdered, to the natvies who were scalped, and whose ears and hands and noses were cut off becuase they didn't practice the religion of the settlers. this land was loved and cared for once by people who knew it and was taken over by a group of rowdy fucking white boys who gave us supposed "freedom." do you know how many countries in the world allow gay marriage? a lot more than you would think. denmark has allowed gay marriage since 1989. i would highly recommend that you google countries that allow gay marriage, and i think that you will be shocked to see how far behind we really are. another issue is free healthcare. do you know that cuba has better healthcare than we do? pretty much everyone has better healthcare than we do. there is a laundry list of things that our government says and does that wouldn't slide an inch in other countries. there are countries that pay you to go to school. there are countries that pay people to help you take care of your children. the reason that we are told that the pilgrims escaped europe was to be free of religious oppression by the government. are we really free of that with a president like george bush making decisions based on his christian values? that's not even legal here, but it still happens. when you go out into the streets today proclaiming how free you are, i just really want you to think, "free from what?"
