3. World of Warcraft
Genres: Fantasy, MMORPG.
Personal rating: 10/10.
-------------------------------
"As with other MMORPGs, players control a character avatar within a game world in third- or first-person view, exploring the landscape, fighting various monsters, completing quests, and interacting with non-player characters (NPCs) or other players. Also similar to other MMORPGs, World of Warcraft requires the player to pay for a subscription, either by buying prepaid game cards for a selected amount of playing time, or by using a credit or debit card to pay on a regular basis."

Right, who here has not heard of World of Warcraft? Unless you've been living in your own little bubble for the past years then you should at least have heard of it. Anyhow yeah, you guessed it - first I show my Final Fantasy geekiness, then Zelda, Kingdom Hearts, Neverwinter Nights and whatnot and here comes my biggest addiction thus far, 'World of Warcraft'.
When all of my NWN buddies stopped playing and the server I was on died out, I couldn't find a server to replace my old one with as none seemed just as good. I kept playing through the single player campaign though, until my brother finally told me that "Hey, I've found this new game that you HAVE to try!" and that's where my addiction started.
I've been hooked onto this game now since "vanilla" days, and the greatest friends that I have are all people I've met on - or because of - WoW. I even met my boyfriend on there, and I'm thankful for all that the game has given me. World of Warcraft simply has a social aspect like no other MMORPG I've seen or tried personally, and it's really enjoyable to find so many people of similar spirits.
Not to mention the Quests, the beautiful environments, the detailed instances and raids and the Achievement system (what's better than a false sense of accomplishment from your addiction?). Some people complain about the graphics being too pale, because "there's even free MMORPG's with better graphics", but you know what? Yeah, WoW is not about the graphics. But that means that Blizzard has put more effort into all other parts of the game, and they've brought things that no other MMORPG has managed, do you really think it became this popular for no reason?
I will admit that I am a bit bored of WoW as of late, but raiding with my close friends and having a way of spending time with my boyfriend even when we're away from each other is still something I find enjoyable and thus I don't plan on quitting the game anytime soon.
If you don't want to spend a ridiculous amount of money on a game that you're bound to get addicted to though, don't even glance at WoW for a second, I beg of you!
