Buggy loves parties. Loves a good time. Loves the Oro Jackson. Loves the captain that saved him. And loves when Eru is the one who seeks him out when he is just drunk enough to appreciate her company and drunk enough to not feel weird about wanting and accepting her kisses.
He loves that his life has all those things on a near daily basis.
He is dumb enough to think it will last forever.
But the things you can't stop in life are death and change.
He learns this and that the two are often intertwined by overhearing one conversation he wasn't supposed too.
"You aren't planning on telling the crew, are you?" A heavy sigh, followed by the captains chuckle.
"The Jackson will sail for the rest of the year…a symbol of freedom. My health problems are not going to change anything. Their destiny should be forged without concern for me."
"You're going to die…they deserve to know that."
"Don't worry. I'll die by my choice. When I die the world will know it."
But Buggy already knew. His ideal life on the Jackson was going to end eventually and what then?
Eru knew something was wrong when her fun, loving companion became distracted. Not even proper and very skillful affection seemed to snap him out of it.
Buggy knew it was going to end…and he had little time to prepare. To find a goal for afterward. To get money to support himself.
It took the execution of his captain to make him realize…maybe he should have enjoyed that last year instead. But he had chosen his path…and somehow it hadn't been important at the time to make sure the brunette would want to be on the path with him.
Buggy hated change.
