Art: ©2007-2008 *skinpupcoss Skinpupcoss @ deviant might be my biggest idol in art. He has this kind of style that sometimes makes me think he has the power to go into my mind, dig out questions I didn't even know I was wondering about and then explain it to me... Just lookie here (at the Artist's Comment): http://skinpupcoss.deviantart.com/art/Even-Angels-Sin-74386793 And those characters he draw... I'm simply amazed by the way he makes them.. Maaaaaaaybe you don't see it, but I do.. I asked him if he had had any education in art, since I wanted to learn to maybe get close to his league in art, but he answered: "Education? Ha. Sorry ;) Never been formally trained, everytime I tried to learn theory on any medium I just got bored. I find it much more satisfying to create something beautiful without the help from an outside source. As you can tell, my anatomy is off, my limbs are too long, and proportions are funky, yet I find them attractive in an art sense. Art shouldn't have to follow any types of rules or regulations. Art is art, and is much more than 3 simple letters." ~shakes in Mael when he comes flying by~ DONT YOU SEE O______O HI'Z B A GENIOUZ O____________________________O

So damn right.... art is in its own form art, that which you learn from others just make you go 'Copy Ninja Kakashi' on the arse.
Just take the regular finishing exam you have to do in gymnasium/high school... .the teachs says you have to do something out of your own will.... but then already you're limited to what you've been reading all this time... the next limit is that it has to look a certain way... every work from every single student must look exactly the same; text size, image size n so on.... a minimum total of pages, but must not be too many either... and let's not forget that "you're allowed to copy someones text, but you must rewrite it in your own words." That pisses me off, not just the fact that you indeed are ripping someones work (but of course, how CAN we even write something on our own if all we do is learn from others in the form of books and hearings?) , but also pretending to do something on our own, when we in fact just use a fucking Copy-paste-skill on it -.-
Naw, I wish we could go back to the old days... where you didn't have to have an education just to get somewhere, but just show that you could handle the type of job that was required...

Omg, i thought i was the only one who thought that :* i agree 98.9%; the art in the gymnasium (nor.: videregående) is about the opposite of the "every work from every single student must look exactly the same" thing. But we are limitited, indeed. We get to know what to paint/draw on beforehand, and if we don't do as it says, we get a bad grade.
I wish I could just take the education I needed to become an archeologist with egyptology as main field or something like that. I don't need kumulative frequency, what Jane Austen wrote about in the Romanticism or when Karl the Great lived... I mean, who (who wants such a profession as me) cares? <,>

Actually you don't have to be trained to be a genious, To be honest I would anser just the same, not the same words ofcourse, but I would mean the same thing, as I also dropped schol almost.. because theory was just maging my head hurt and i dropped focus, while being creative from my own mind was a lot more usefull.
When it comes to knowledge it's one thing, but as in art, your head is the mainartist, you don't draw/paint from a rulebok, yu draw from your head. ^^
So I agrees with him.
Only difference here is that he has practiced a lot more than me, practice with himself, not in some school. :3

hun, artschool isnt about learning how to do things by rules that are written in books. It's about learning how to tell without using words, only image... there's alot of psychology in it. what's so engeniously about skinpup is that he masters the surrealism without going on an official school.. he did it like the old masters...
the theory shit is all in the other subjects that i'll never need.
