No matter how many times we're thrown down
Hope still rises, like a phoenix.
But in difference to a mighty phoenix
Hope is frail, hope is vulnerable.
It does not rise from the ashes,
Strong and confident.
It rises, shaking.
Wishing it won't be cast down as soon as it takes flight.
And every time it rises,
It does so a little weaker.
And those who it inhabits
Expect less and less.
Once you've lost your wings many a time enough
You don't expect to keep them.

It can make us stronger.
But damn my soul, it can also be the end of a man."
