Dear James,
There is this old saying called "To love someone, you've got to love yourself."
And as for me, I think it's true in every matter.
Especially in this one!
And to be able to love yourself, you have to know yourself. And getting to know yourself usually takes time.
That is why I agree with you. You have to let Amy loose, and focus on yourself. I think that she might be an obstacle for you. Leaving her might not be so easy. But it's the best for everyone.
You need to be alone for a while, and find yourself. And when you've done that, you have to get in peace with yourself. You need to be true to yourself, and you're never going to be able to do that when you have her near. I don't know what you feel for her, yet I know its not love!
Love should be something but a physical attraction. It should be a passion, a complete devotion, a constant addiction, a longing without boundries, a refreshing hunger that never wants to end!
And when it comes to love, you couldn't be more wrong! Yes, people do things for themselves. But feeling needed and confirmed are human needs. Selfishness does not define the true lover, and the love itself is not a curse, but the opposit.
To be loved is not to be stuck, it's to be free! The chains are not to prevent you from flying. They are to save you from falling. To love is to live. The lock to a fence isn't sealed by the two words "I do".
I know you will understand this as you grow older. Until then, throw rocks at city busses. Until then, paint the town with graffitti. Until then, skip school sometimes, when you feel to go elsewhere. Until then, be insane.
I wish you all well /
yours truely,
Auntie Eva
