"The vehicle's drivetrain, which is said to "not require a charge for six years" and be able to "power two 500 horsepower electric motors producing 1000 horsepower" combined. Well, either the car will be delivered with an onboard thermonuclear powerplant and a free flux-capacitor or the guys from SSC really meant that the vehicle's future owner will not have to bother about charging its accumulators for a period of six years. This is a kind of achievement anyway, since most current and upcoming EVs need their batteries changed every five years or so.
The supercar's first prototype, which will apparently be based on the current SSC Ultimate Aero grand tourer (pictured), will be revealed to the public in February 2009 and the first bunch of EVs will be delivered to customers in the fourth quarter of 2009. SSC hopes that the Ultimate Aero EV will be the fastest electric-powered car in the world."
