Black & White @ Melbourne Aquarium.
The tranquil Syngnathid(Seahorse), generally found hovering over shallow sea grass meadows and clinging to beach nets.
These majestic creatures feed upon minuscule invertebrates which live in and amongst the sea grass and weed by targeting and engulfing their food source with a quick lunge, sucking the prey in.
Most Intriguing of all, is the courtship followed by fertilisation and gestation all occur inside the male. After 3-6 weeks, the hatched fry are then left to fend for themselves, will the male carries on to the next impregnation session.
