Idioter finns det gåt om
Men riktiga vänner är sällsynta
.
Vänner skrattar
Vänner ler
Vem behöver något mer?
.
.
Evig vänskap är mer värt än allt guld i världen
.
Din vänn är din bästa sköld
.
Of the urban life that is our hip-hop culture
Riktiga vänner ser osynliga tårar
.
When I first heard rap, I found that it was cool
Heard 50 and Ja, made myself a fool
I thought what I was listening to was hip-hop
But I realized it was all fake, commercialized pop
Fake gangstas sporting grills and large gold chains
Bragging about women and cars, and calling out names
Watered down records that are passed off as artwork
Lacking creativity, devotion and hard work
Why should we have to care about rims and grills
Or about how you own many hundred dollar bills
They call themselves hip-hop, but found out they're fakers
Pop icons all serving corporate money makers
Because of all the lies I was unable to see
The true artform involved in being an emcee
Blinded by the fake image of bling and hoes
Until I realized hip-hop was a wilting rose
Taken by corporations seeking to earn big money
Turning bitter what used to be sweet as honey
From an urban art form to a commercial image
Videos of scantily clad women and cleavage
And actors posing as thugs and gangstas
Fake beefs and accusations of them being wankstas
I won't listen no more, 'cuz none of it matters
I can't accept the trash coming from these rappers
I prefer a lil' intelligence in the rhymes I hear
But I won't turn on the radio 'cuz they don't come near
Commercialized garbage destroying the hip-hop name
Sucker emcees choosing money over love for the game
Why is that all I hear is money, hoes, violence
I can't take all this crap, I would rather have silence
If only hip-hop's founders could see this now
They would lament and wonder to themselves how
A rapper used to be an intelligent crowd mover
Now it's a wealthy bastard try'na look cooler
They become famous just 'cuz they shot a cop
Money and fame matter more to them than hip-hop
Pause for a second before you say that I sound
Like a backpacker who worships all the underground
I have to admit that there is some good in the mainstream
But the negativity outweighs the good themes
I listened to Snoop Dogg, even a bit of Nelly
The Game, Jay-Z, Kanye and Slim Shady
I admit I liked Eminem's song When I'm Gone
As well as Jesus Walks, Stan, and the Apl Song
It's not just underground, mainstream has potential
After all they are the ones who are most influential
But they must change the subject and stop degrading rap
With all that materialism and violent crap
In the end it's not whether it's mainstream or underground
It's whether the message of change will ever be found
And that songs about hoes and money is just wrong
They should try to put better messages into a song
There's nothing wrong with believing in the words of KRS
The rap game truly needs to clean up it's mess
We need positivity to set things straight
Because the wrong message will only cause more hate
All of the hip-hop people need to understand
That every single one of us has to take a stand
Keep it right and preserve the architecture
