''Take me away from those I hurt,
From those that seem to care.
For I am like a sheep,
Straying away from my path, unknowing
No shepherd to guide me.
They tell me I should act more like them,
I should dress like them, I should walk like them, I should talk like them.
I should be one of them.
But in this violent world
I only want to be me.
There is nothing that I would not give to go back to the better days,
The ones that did not corrupt my being,
Pollute my soul.
I wish the summer would stay forever,
That the snow would always fall,
Just like they always seemed to do.
But what can possibly be done when the good times slip through your fingers,
And the bad times grab their hold upon your flesh.
What is it that causes us to fall,
To burn up from the inside.
My thoughts are twisted,
I can feel life no longer.
When the seas no longer churn,
And the sun no longer sets,
The day will be as strange as my heart.
For on days it is cold, icy, cruel,
Others it is warm, kind, thoughtful.
I can’t explain the cruel words I yell,
I can’t find what I seek.
So I wander, searching for something I may never find...''
