Strapped down for safety Many inventions have attempted to make people´s changes of surviving a car collision greater. In 1903, Gustave Liebau, a Frenchman, patended a design for protective braces, used in cars asd aircraft. This formed the basis of the modern seat belt. The Swedish car manufacturer Volvo first fitted seat belts to their cars in 1963. In 1988, the Japanese car manufacturer Toyota fitted an electrical system in some of its cars that automatically fastens the belt. The following year, Kim Nag-Hyun of South Korea developed a system that, in the event of a collision, automatically releases the belt 30 seconds after impact. åhhh, vad det är kul med engelska läxa, speciellt om säkerhetsbältet, (a)
