Why were the Vikings so feared by the people of Europe?
Because their only law was to take and die for it in the process.
Because they plundered whatever they could get their hands on, food and belongings, they raped at will and also abducted people to be used as slaves or to sell on to others. They were blood thirsty and left death and scorched earth in their wake...

actually,,,you know how much i love Viking culture........very much....i want to be one......but....they were feared....because they attacked by suprise......infact, the only time i have found, that they announced they were coming before they got there,,,,,,was in Northern England,,,,,,and uhhhh......welll....England kicked thier ass........like...bad.....400 ships sailed with the King from Norway,,,,only 12 returned... :/

you know a lot of the vikings, terry. more than i do! =) one thing is for sure; they were real hardasses. not that nice sometimes. more of the times.. <br />
