Chapter 2- Favors --PART 2
He dragged me past surprised inmates and security guards
and into the bathroom. Where he pulled off his white tank top
and drenched it in water from the sink tap. Then he got down
on his knees and proceeded to clean my wounds. That's cute
and all but-
"Wouldn't it be better if he just took a shower and cleaned
himself up?" Seemed like this was one of those days when I
just kept getting interrupted.
Boris had entered the bathroom and was now distributing
out my uniforms and bath towel. That's when the door to
the bathroom opened again.
"What's going on in here?" Two of the security guards had
decided to check up on us. Good thing Boris had handed
over my kit to me wrapped up in my uniform.
We are not supposed to have any other possessions then
three pair of winter uniforms, three pair of summer uniforms,
three bath towels and three sets of bed clothes. But this is a
prison, people are not put her for their great ability to follow
rules.
"Ah, nothing in particular, Officers. Mr. Volkov just hurt himself
while sleeping and he is now going to take a shower. So
shall we." Boris replied, held up the door and smiled. The
Guards sent the kid and me suspicious looks but decided to
follow him out.
The kid seemed reluctant to leave me alone but after I did a
a shooing motion towards him he left the room and closed the
door after himself.
I took a quick shower and then opened my kit. It's filled with
lots of useful stuff, among other things. Luckily I had been
foresighted enough to bring something for wounds.
Playing around with some of the content in the kit I finally
found myself satisfied with the result and walked out of the
bathroom. I thought that the kid would have followed Boris
to the dining room but he was leaning against the wall.
I gave him a nod and started walking back towards our cell
to leave my towel and the kit. The kid pushed himself off from
the wall and started walking next to me.
"Name's?" I already know his name and who he is.
Mendacem memorem esse oportet*, and I have a good
memory but my mouth can slip sometimes so it's best to have
all pitfalls covered.
Lies are easier to keep going if you can at least pretend to
believe them.
