Couldn’t they just take a hint? Seriously? He got forced back into the small fold. There was nothing really he could do about it. He had tried. He refused to let them ride him but they would just lead him back and try again. It was getting old fast and part of him just wanted to get give up and be done with it but his pride wouldn’t let him.
He was Lord Vaughn Von Sterling and he was not going to let some lowly common people ride him. Well, he was not going to let any human ride him. It would just be far to degrading. Since he had originally also been a human.
Glancing through his hair he noted that they were not going to try to put a child on his back. Were they deranged? Vaughn snorted and tried to take a closer look at the dirty little child. She couldn’t be more than 10. Thin, short with a very long dirty braid. Were they trying to get her hurt? On purpose? That was really sinister of them, but he wouldn’t put it past them.
The child’s legs gripped tightly around his back and he could feel the child shivering in fright. The child must have seen him throw one of the men to the ground. Really very sinister of them. He couldn’t throw this child. Even though it was just a street urchin.
They forced him out into the pen. He resisted more than usual this time but he know that it was inevitable. He had to step out into the pen, so he eventually did. He didn’t throw the child. He couldn’t. It was just a child and she could get seriously hurt. The men he didn’t care about, they could die. The child though, she was innocent.
Vaughn took some tentative steps towards the center of the pen and the crowd started buzzing. The child started shaking even more. He tried to glance at her but it was hard now when she was actually sitting on him. She was sniffling. "Sssh, it’s okay. I won’t throw you off."
She must have heard him even though he had only been whispering because instead of shivering and sniffling she had become very stiff. "D-doo...aa-ll...ho-ho-horsshes....sp-peak?"
She wasn’t a girl. He hadn’t noted it before but now when he heard her voice on top of having her on his back. He knew. She was a boy. Not that it mattered that much. "No."
The men started forcing him back into the the small fold, Vaughn didn’t fight them this time. The child got removed and one of the men sat down on him again. They would keep trying until he tired of resisting them, wouldn’t they?
After being led out to the pen again Vaughn of course bucked and threw the man off. The crowd roared with laughter. It made Vaughn feel great, he felt strengthened. The men looked so angry. They tried to force him back into the fold again but this time he resisted and they just let him stay there. It felt like a big victory. Not throwing that child had been a good choice.
Vaughn nipped at some grass and glanced around at the people looking at him from behind the pen fences. The boy was standing there. Staring at him. He continued nipping some grass here and there while heading for the boy. The boy already knew that he could talk and the boy couldn’t. Well, not that well. The boy didn’t seem that bright either so maybe he could get the boy to let him out from the pen tonight. He really wanted his freedom back.
Actually, what he wanted the most was his real body back, but he could settle for freedom for now.

"Now wasn’t that fun?"
Wyatt shrugged, gripping the bars of the fence tightly. It had been terrifying and very very confusing. Animals couldn’t talk. They couldn’t. But this horse could. Should he ask knight Amber about it? No, maybe he had just imagined it? That was possible to.
He kept staring at the horse and noticed that it was coming closer, that made him nervous. Knight Amber patted his head. "Look, he’s coming over, you should feed him some grass. I need to get back to patrolling the neighborhood."
Wyatt glanced over at knight Amber and nodded. He also noted that the crowd had almost disappeared. Knight Amber smiled at him, waved and then walked away. Wyatt kept watching his back. He really didn’t want to be left alone, but he hadn’t dared to ask knight Amber to stay with him. "Hey, child."
Had Wyatt not been gripping the fence tightly he would’ve jumped and tripped over himself in surprise. The horse was standing on the other side of the fence and looking at him through long black and white bangs. Wyatt removed his hands from the fence. He wanted to run. He didn’t know where to. He should’ve asked knight Amber to take him to where people sold vegetables but it had slipped his mind. "Hey, I’m talking to you, child. It’s rude not to answer your elders."
Wyatt sniffled. This was so confusing. He was about to pick his braid up from the ground but instead he settled for rubbing his ring. It calmed him down a little bit. He glanced at the horse.
The horse was talking quietly and looking around at people close to them. Was he trying to hide that he could talk? Wyatt whispered back. "Wa-what...?"
If the horse could just stop looking at him, then he wouldn’t be feeling so bothered. Knight Amber had told him to feed the horse some grass but he didn’t dare bend over and pick some up. He didn’t dare to move at all. "I’m not going to eat you, so calm down."
It stopped. It bent it’s head down through the bars in the fence and started eating some grass that grew there. Sniffling some more Wyatt wiped his face with the back of his hand, leaving streaks of dirt. He wasn’t going to cry. Boy’s didn’t cry. Never.
Chewing grass the horse glanced at Wyatt for awhile and then muttered silently. "I really need your help, child. Could you stay here until tonight?"
Wyatt frowned. If he stayed until night time his brothers would be really pissed. He really should be getting back to the cart right now, but he didn’t want to. He wanted to become a knight but he didn’t know how to. "I-i-if...." Wyatt swallowed. "i-if y-you he-help me be-be-become a-a kn-knight."
The horse stared wide eyed at him. For a long time. Wyatt moved his weight from one foot to another. Waiting nervously. Was it really such a strange request. "I see. Yes, sure. If you help me regain my freedom."
They stared at each other for moment and then Wyatt sat down on the ground. He would have to wait for a really long time. "What is your name, child?"
Rubbing his ring Wyatt stared at the ground. The ring was getting really warm and he was getting a bit tired. "Wy-wy-att."
Nodding the horse watched him for a moment. Like he was waiting for something more but Wyatt didn’t know for what. When Wyatt didn’t say anything more the horse said. "I’m Vaughn Von Sterling, a pleasure meeting you."
