Vaughn was bored. It was so boring just standing there and waiting. The Horse next to him were boring and there wasn’t even any grass here he could chew on. Wyatt had seemed hungry and hopefully he would get some food at the inn but Vaughn was starting to get hungry too.
Looking around he, as quietly as he could, sneaked over to the other side of the house and the stable. Walking around out there he wondered about how to get inside. He couldn’t really lift the hatch. "Oh my, how did you get out? "
A woman with an apron was slowly walking up to the stable doors, she lifted the hatch and tried to slowly walk up to him. Vaughn walked into the stable, there were a lot of other horses there but he stop in front of the fold of the horse he had seen knight Holden ride earlier. Then he would know when they were finished eating.
The woman opened the hatch again and let him in, then she closed all the doors and left. Probably back to helping the chef cook.
Vaughn glanced over at the horse next to him. An Appaloosa. Who was staring at him. "Please stop that."
Not really expecting the Appaloosa to understand what he said he got really surprised when the horse turned his head away. It was probably just a coincident. Should he try something else? "What are you doing here?"
The Appaloosa glanced at him, snorted and then looked away. "Do you expect all horses to understand human speech or just me?"
Vaughn almost fell over. This horse could speak as well. How many of the horses he had seen were actually humans to begin with? Were all horses actually human? If this was how Wyatt had felt when he spoke, he could actually understand the terror the child had shown. He shook his head, he had to be more practical. "What are you doing here? Does the knight know that you can speak?"
Tilting his head the Appaloosa tilted his head. "Well, I was looking for a way to tell him that he didn’t really need to look for his friend anymore. Since he’s had him right under his nose for the whole time. He’s a simple man, he might not be able to handle it."
Vaughn ate some of the hay and looked at the knight turned horse, did he know? "Do you know how you got turned into a horse?"
The knight also took some hay and chewed is slowly. "I have always found horses fascinating, almost to the point of obsession. So when I saw you I knew you weren’t one." Vaughn wasn’t really sure if he should be offended or not. "Knowing it could be done I set out to find someone who could turn me into a horse and well, here you have me."
Blinking Vaughn wondered only one thing. "Why?"
The horse stared at him for a long time, like he thought that it was obvious. "Because I wanted to be one."
-/////-
Wyatt rubbed his ring, now Vaughn was missing too, why did people just end up missing? "Come on, let’s go get my horse and then we can look for your horse while we go visit Amber’s brother. You should really get something to tie that horse up with."
Nodding to himself he followed knight Holden to the stable, he really should start tying Vaughn up. Otherwise somebody might steal him since he looked like a wild horse. He needed to find him first thou. "Wow, Look at this, your horse is here, Wyatt."
Looking around knight Holden he saw Vaughn standing next to knight Holden’s horse. He felt relief wash over him. Vaughn wouldn’t just leave him. He had promised to help him to become a knight. "Vaughn!"
Wyatt scrambled into the fold as knight Holden opened the door and put his arms around what he could of his friend. Knight Holden chuckled behind him. "You really like that horse of yours."
Blushing against Vaughn’s skin another voice piped in, a voice that Wyatt recognized. "Of course he does."
Staring at the other horse Wyatt thought that he really shouldn’t be that surprised anymore, he knew that humans could get turned into horses. That Amber was a horse was slightly surprising, thou. "Amber?"
Glancing over at knight Holden Wyatt got a little bit worried that he would faint. He was staring wide eyed and he was paler than a ghost. Not that Wyatt had ever seen a real ghost, but this was paler than he had imagined them to ever be. It looked like his eyes would pop out too. He didn’t look healthy. "...Yeah."
This meant that he didn’t actually have to help knight Holden search for knight Amber. He had never actually been gone. Instead he would have to try and find the person who had turned both Vaughn and Amber into horses. Still pale, but getting his color back knight Holden opened his arms. "What happened!?"
Maybe knight Amber would know more than Vaughn did, he was a knight after all. "I went to a magician and had him turn me into a horse."
Wyatt let go of Vaughn to have a better look at Amber. He wanted to be a horse? Knight Holden looked really upset. "What?"
Knight Amber looked at knight Holden and Wyatt was sure that knight Amber was frowning. He was a horse so it was hard to tell, but Wyatt had some practice. "You heard me."
Now looking more upset than shocked knight Holden glared at knight Amber. "You didn’t bother talking to me about it first? We’re supposed to be..." Knight Holden surprised Wyatt by glancing at him in the middle of his sentence. "...Friends!"
With a lump in his throat Wyatt looked at the floor. They were almost screaming at each other. He didn’t like it when people he liked argued. He wanted to leave but he couldn’t really do that either.
Wyatt almost jumped out of his skin when Vaughn bumped his head against Wyatt’s shoulder. "Come on, let’s leave."
Shaking his head Wyatt looked at the floor. Knight Amber and knight Holden were shouting at each other. Both of them upset by the other. Why couldn’t everybody just get along? Wyatt sniffled. "Come on, let them solve their differences alone, we have a magician to find."
Rubbing his eyes Wyatt glanced at Vaughn. Did that mean that Amber had told him exactly how he had gotten turned into a horse. Pouting Wyatt glanced at knight Holden and knight Amber, he had to help Vaughn and they would probably not notice them leave so Wyatt followed Vaughn out of the stable.
When they got outside, Vaughn lowered himself and Wyatt climbed on, still sniffling. "Do you think they will still be friends?"
Vaughn snorted. "If their...friendship is strong enough."
