The Grammy’s have never been very adept at honoring rap (they didn’t even acknowledge that hip-hop was music until 1988), but they did get it right this year when they nominated Lil’ Wayne for eight awards, including album of the year. This was more than any other single artist, and cemented Wayne as not only the most popular rapper in the world, but also the most respected.
