This is where it all came together. After a long series of delays (XXL had named the album one of its most anticipated for 2007), Weezy F. Baby finally released the much ballyhooed Carter III on June 10, 2008. The reaction was overwhelming, with the album selling over 400,000 in its first day and over a million in its first week, making it the first album to go platinum in that time span in nearly 3 years. It would go on to be the top-selling album of the year, and the most commercially successful of Wayne’s career.
