First view of the Balaton lake, somewhere down on the southern side of that... in a small village near a campsite called "Eldorado".
The sky was beautifully clear. As opposed to the water, which abode with peculiar murky water colour...
Outdoor markets at Keszthely, a town on the western side of Balaton. /Had really delicious raspberries, btw ;)
Yay, a pic taken by my mum in Keszthely. Me with some kind of a famous poet, or politician... whatever. His title was "gróf" which means "earl"... but they gave the title to anyone back then. So basi
A lovely construction on the main square in Keszthely. Nevermind, but could somebody explain to me why was this modern park built in front of their most spectacular church?
The construction which leaves me wondering what the heck the original intent was... Might come handy in time of rain, matter-of-factly. But otherwise? What has encouraged them to build this scar on th
Why don´t we have such flower carpets here? ... Oh, wait. Because some tools would destroy them, that´s why.
Busy streets of Keszthely at the noon during a regular workday. Unlike in other parts of Hungary, this town is full of German tourists.
The chateau in Keszthely with its splendid fountain. Just a little observation - the water was probably brought from Balaton. The colour seemed considerably the same shade.
The chateau has more than a hundred rooms and also a massive neobarocco tower with a gate in the same style.
Unlike many others, this chateau was not even partly destroyed by the WWII. Although its surroundings weren´t that lucky...
The shore in Fonyód. In summer may be packed with people but on this day we met only few other tourists of mostly Hungarian origin. A peaceful place :)
The first mentions of Fonyód date back to the early 11th century, but in the sources from the 14th, this town is labeled as an island, hnting that back then, Balaton covered much larger area!
A castle stood in this town, but like many other Middle Age sights, this one was also destroyed in the 16th century during the Turkish invasion... pity. Those which remained are really awesome. Unfort
Castle in Sümeg - the only castle in Hungary from the 13th century which still stands intact. It survived two huge fires and has been under siege several times. Inconceivable, huh.
