Den gamle mannen var nu framme,
vid vägens slut.
Hans enda timglas hade nu, runnit ut.
Med hopknäppta händer han bad en bön.
En bön att få komma hem,
det skulle bli det hårda livets lön.
Så ensam han låg där på dödens bädd,
i en vit lång mantel, han var klädd.
Han blinkade tårögt till det svaga
lilla ljuset, som varit hans vän
Han förstod att nu var det dags,
att lämna jorden och börja den långa
resan hem.
Med ett liten pust släckte han
ljusets dans
och i samma stund miste hans öga sin
