a drink with Shane Macgowan
- Do you like beetroot?
- I've been a lover and a hater of beetroot all my life. The first few years of my life, I hated beetroot. Then I grew to love it.
- How?
- I dunno. You don't like something when you're a kid, and then suddenly you try it cause you're forced to, and you find out that you actually like it.
- Yeah, like spinach.
- Well, I always liked spinach, actually, it was always called 'greens' when I ate it. Greens.
- Eat up your greens.
- Yeah, greens. But I got into beetroot in a big way, then I ate so much of it I got sick of it.
- I've seen you do that with other things.
- Well, yeah, I do it. I've got a terrible habit of doing it with everything.
- Everything?
- Pretty much.
- Which is why I like to get you to a new restaurant occasionally.
- It was nice food.
- Yes, lovely.
- But it's a good thing I wasn't starving, you know, cause there wasn't exactly much on the plate
Victoria clutches her ample stomach, contentedly.
- I'm stuffed.
Shane reaches out a pale, sensitive hand for Victoria's leftovers.
- Let's try the beetroot again, seeing as I'm still hungry, and I haven't had it in ages.
Shane chews, thoughtfully. Victoria watches, tenderly.
- Funny you know...
- I LIKE IT AGAIN!
- ... when you're eating...
- I LIKE IT AGAIN!!
- ... when you're eating you have these musceles on the side of your face that go in and out.
- I LIKE BEETROOT AGAIN!!! ......
