20 Jan 2015 I have a marlin guide gun 18" barrel. Looking for good data and bullet weights that other people have had good luck with. Only hunting deer so don't need any knock my socks off loads. But don't want light trapdoor loads either. Probably a good midrange load. 98 220 swift is offline

30 Apr 2011 I just bought a new 45-70 Guide Gun the other day and today while shopping at Three Bears in Palmer,on a whim, I picked up a 250 rd box of HSM reloader #7 gave me the best results with cast bullets in that weight range. cant recall the exact load data, but i think it came from the powder mfg web site.

Then tried some of my handloads using 405gr LRNFP bullets from Oregon Trail, with 24grs IMR-4198, grouping at 100 yrds was very poor. Would like to find a good all around load for hunting & target

14 May 2008 This is my Marlin Guide Gun, the only change I have made is to put a Skinner Sight on the rear which is not shown right now. From 300-gr JHP, The .223 Rem in some circles is very over rated and is not a good penetrator on autos or even a man stopper if shot placement is not placed very well. I love slow
