Nov 15, 2017 Never had problems with birds and we do havw sparrows that will eat anything. First you can use a shade cloth on a frame and drape it down over the plants. Next you can put out some dry broken up wheat. They will eat it and bloat in their stomach which will kill them. You can scare them with a bb too.
You might end up with a mouse in your house, but rodent and bird damage is something you would usually look for on plants grown outdoors. The damage from rodents and other small animals looks just like something has been eating on your cactus. This makes a lot of sense,
