The book includes two versions of the script; one in Correct English for ease of reading and the other in its Original Scottish Vernacular.
This play is not for the faint of heart but a gripping, aurally assaulting and manipulative play about Glaswegian homicidal obsession. The play doesn’t necessarily have to be set in Scotland. It is easily adaptable to any country and for actors of any race or colour.
This is a stage play for 2 actors. The set is simple, just some sand and a bed. The props, a whiskey bottle and some rope. The action takes place on a secluded beach at night on the banks of The River Clyde in the west of Scotland.
Enter a singing, happy, FRANKIE to the sound of the tide coming in and seagulls calling. Thrown over his shoulder is JANDA, his hands and legs tied behind his back. Trussed up like a big Xmas Turkey.
Why is this happening to poor JANDA? He can’t ask this question as his mouth is gagged. He can only listen to a Vitriolic FRANKIE’s verbal assault about moral retribution.
“I'll tell you what Janda. For a so called hard-man you're not very heavy. Are you? Still. The only weight problem you're going to have is waiting for that tide to come in."
“I used to have some really terrible nightmares. Now-a-days the only time I ever find peace and tranquillity is when I am asleep! That's where I envy you really. Because in about an hour and a half; when that tide comes in; you'll be asleep. Asleep forever!"
