6 Nov 2007 You might want to find a copy of the manual , and as I do not have this camera I can't tell you for sure, but I believe you rotate the horizontal wheel directly You also need to enable the QCD on the power switch (2nd setting). When I first started, I tried shooting in manual mode and just got frustrated.
31 Mar 2015 Rotate the Quick Command Dial on the back of the camera when shooting in manual mode to change the aperture. Rotating the Main Control Dial on the top of the camera will change the shutter speed, not the f-stop. You can view the settings through the viewfinder or the top LCD screen.
I thought I would write down the in-camera settings I use for my new 40D. This might help someone who is new to the camera. Also I thought if any 40D users have better settings than mine (or just different) then they can post them here. So we could get a list going of in-camera settings that give good results
