A vampire bat killed the child indirectly — as a vector for a disease. When was the last time you saw the headline “Squirrels kill child," or “Raccoons kill child," about a child dying from rabies induced by a squirrel or raccoon bite? I’ve never seen one. This headline was pure sensationalism, playing on the inaccurate stereotype of vampire bats as blood-sucking demons. BBC — you’re better than this.
