After her supposed death, a young woman returns as the son of her noble family to precede the family's prestigious company, with a demon at her side to avenge her parent's murder.
This story is about a young 13 year old boy named Ciel Phantomhive. Ever since his father and mother was killed in a fire, he was going into darkness being used for a ritual, unroll he summons a demon, as they made a contact which was if Ciel gets his revenge then the demon shall have his soul. What adventures wait them? You must see for your self. Sebastian never lies.
This movie is pretty much every little white girls dream on the anime and manga series spat into one big mess of a movie. Modern day setting? Check. Female Ciel? Check. Ciel and Sebastian love story? Check. I'm still scratching my head at how somebody sat down and thought that this would be a good addition to such a fantastic series and even worse at the fact that it got approved. It has no redeeming features, even if you try, like I did after the first 15 minutes, as a completely different movie not from the franchise. It is just all around bad. Want to watch a really bad movie that at least tried to keep in check with your favorite anime? go watch the death note movies. I would not recommend this even if you were on a death bed of bordem.
Black Butler is an interesting manga with a Faustian tale at its core.This movie made some changes regarding the manga-in the manga ,we have a boy named Ciel,here we have a girl named Shiori,who is Ciel's descendant.Setting and time of the action is also different.Ayami Goriki gives a good performance as Shiori and shows us Shiori's(Ciel's)biterness and anger ,yet at the same time we see her kidness and good heart.One thing that I found weird was that she was very cold and unfeeling towards the girls who were kidnapped with her ,even saying them 'Prayers are useless.God does not exist' and leaving them at the place,and yet near the end of the movie she decides to give her life for the people in the cathedral,as if God himself called her.Why such a massive change of heart happened?Another thing which I hated even more was the character of Shiori's aunt.She is very annoying.In the original manga ,Ciel's aunt,nicknamed Madam Red(her real name is Angelina Burnett),is a very touching and sweet person who suffered a lot by losing people dear to her (who even makes Grell feel a certain sadness and connection with her and therefore decides to help her ,before Grell felt betrayed by Madam Red and killed her).Hiro Mizushima was very good as a demon Sebastian.He brought Sebastian's sense of danger and allure ,his playfulness and wit and ultimately his evil as well.They should really have straighten up his hair though(his hair is way more curly than Sebastian's in the manga).Overall,a nice movie.
In Japan, Kuroshitsuji is rated R15 for graphic violence. The north america release is rated TV-MA. Yes. The film is based off the manga. But the film is very removed from the manga as it does not follow the same characters and exists in a different universe. The film seems to follow the 'Jack the Ripper' arc from the manga. No. Shiori is a new character. She is implied to be somehow a descendent of Ciel. Sebastian is still Sebastian, but Shiori is not Ciel.
Lady Hanae is loosely based on Madam Red. He realises that she has more potential than he realized, and that in not fulfilling their contract, er soul would be distasteful. Allowing her to live, would lead her soul in to darkness as she loses her humanity, which would make her soul more flavorful to the demon. a5c7b9f00b
