31 Mar 2015 Navigate to the location of the GIF file, click it to select it and click the "Open" button. A copy of the GIF file appears in the center of the PDF page.
I issue many reports in PDF format and I'd like to add simple animations, not any video. This is near impossible in version X and I'll upgrade to XI o.

Hi all, I was wondering if someone could help me with the following; I want to add some animated GIF images to my interactive PDF document in InDesign.
Open the GIF in Quicktime and save as MOV (Apparently it works with other formats too, you'll have to try it out). Insert the MOV into the PDF (with Adobe InDesign (make sure to set Object> Interactive> film options > Embed in PDF) - It should work with Adobe Acrobat Pro DC too: see link. Save the PDF.
Another option is to create your PDF as you normally do and add your videos directly in Adobe Acrobat Pro. Not the most practical way of doing it if you have a lot of revisions on your documents but it's fast to add them. Add video for interactive PDF. 22 Dec 2014 You can of course, place animated GIFs into your documents, but InDesign has (almost) no idea that the images are supposed to be animated. you could use some screen recording software to record the GIF playing and save it as MP4, which you could use in any interactive output—DPS, PDF, or EPUB.
