29 Aug 2012 If you want to use pdflatex , you can't directly compile with eps files. So you can convert them beforehand or convert them "on-the-fly" with the package epstopdf. Or you could just use latex , which outputs DVI , not PDF , but you can use eps files directly.
16 Dec 2011 TeX Live 2010 and 2011 automatically convert EPS files to PDF, but it looks like it keeps converting, even when the EPS file hasn't changed. Working from Herbert's suggestion, this should do the trick. It may also work with other distributions, but I've not tried. documentclass{article} usepackage{graphicx}
12 Jan 2006 The Encapsulated PostScript (eps) format, differences between eps and ps files, and methods for converting non-eps graphics to eps. • The graphic formats that can be directly imported with pdfTEX (jpeg, png, pdf, MetaPost) are described. • Freeware/Shareware graphics software is described. Part II: The
Including eps graphics in pdfLaTeX. Traditionally, LaTeX users generate postscript output using dvips. An alternative is to use pdfTeX to generate PDF files directly. The PDF format offers a number of advantages over postscript: Smaller uncompressed file sizes. Much more efficient bitmap inclusion. Availability of hyperlinks.
28 May 2016 The set of file types allowed for image inclusion depends on the driver or back end being used. "Traditionally" pdflatex does not allow EPS and latex/dvips do not allow pdf and you would have an error about unknown graphics type. However pdflatex these days calls eps2pdf in the background to convert an
27 Jul 2010 EPS is more than an image format: it's an entire programming language. The way that DVI mode includes EPS images is to simply leave a space for them in the output. If you look at a DVI, you'll find that the EPS images are not actually added to it: they have to be present for appropriate interpretation when
20 Nov 2013 After examining the output closer I found out that the file overnondomination-eps-converted-to.pdf was never created. This is because I had not installed epstopdf . Running sudo apt-get install texlive-font-utils. solved the problem.
31 May 2014 You shouldn't add the extension. The / at the beginning of the path looks wrong. You have a better chance with includegraphics[scale=1]{../model_1_2}. However: You might not be allowed to work with a file that is one folder up, due to (reasonable) security restrictions disallowing this.
27 Sep 2011 It seems you're using graphics in the .eps format. A relatively easy way of solving this problem is loading usepackage{epstopdf} in your preamble and compiling with pdfLaTeX as usual. This will convert any .eps graphics to .pdf first, you'll see the actual .pdf files in your directory.
7 Nov 2011 You are probably use pdflatex instead of latex . The former is actually recommended but doesn't support EPS graphics but only JPG, PNG and PDF. You should convert the EPS to PDF using e.g. epstopdf . Newer versions of pdflatex from TeX Live should do this conversion automatically by running a
