6 Sep 2010 Scarebird sells nice disc brake brackets that use parts from any local parts store.. www.scarebird.com/ I have a lumpy cam in my car with 10" of vacuum at idle. I've tried everything to get the power booster to work. I ended up switching the pedal ratio to manual (3:1) and that fixed the problem.
However, most if not all race cars use manual brakes for feedback response. So ..I just don't know which route to go. Will manual brakes cause my car to lose braking performance in distance?? In other words..I upgrade my front and rear brakes to disc (C5 Vette) Will removing the booster cause me to
Looking to convert to front disc brakes this spring and checking out different kits, etc. Currently have four wheel manual drum brakes and wasn't sure if power or manual would be the way to go when converting. 1.) What level of vacuum is required to operate power brakes? 2.) My engine produces around
31 Jul 2002 Posts: 470. The only real difference in a manual vs power disk/drum setup is in MC bore size. THe manual brakes MCs are usually 1" or less, the power MCs are usually 1 1/8" or more. If you add a booster to a manual brake system, you will probably get a pretty touchy brake pedal do to the smaller MC bore.
1 Mar 2006 How much more effective are Power Brakes then Manual? How much more complicate is the install if someone were doing a front disc swapIs it easy to
23 Aug 2016 I have 2 manual disc cars, both stock A bodies, and both stop fine. I have no trouble locking them up if need be. I think power brakes are overkill until you get up around 4000 pounds or more. More room in the engine bay w/o the booster, no worrying about not having enough vacuum to work the booster if
13 Aug 2011 What is the basic difference between manual and power brakes? I thought it was the brake booster, but another thread suggested that it's more than this. Can I convert my present manual drum brakes to power drum brakes? What would I need? Do I want to, or do I want to do the complete conversion to disc
24 Oct 2010 I am installing the LS1 disc brakes on all 4 corners. I have a 1966 Nova. I am trying to decide between a manual or power setup. I was wondering what you all were using and how you like it. This is mostly a street drivin car that i would one day like to autocross as well.
ive got manual discs on my camaro and chevelle. have power discs on my el caminos. The power assist really does what its suppose to. but you just have to remember to push harder when driving the manual brake car. jim
