In the near future, the company "The Union" provides expensive prosthesis to improve the lives of the clients. However, the company sends repo men to retrieve the artificial organs for those that do not pay the installments. The former soldiers Remy and his best friend Jake are among the best repo men of the company; however Remy's job cost his marriage and his wife Carol leaves him. When Remy is ready to request to be transferred to the sales department expecting to save his marriage, he has an accident with a defibrillator and he needs heart transplantation. The prosthesis is very expensive and Remy changes his behavior after the medical procedure, and he is no longer capable of chasing the debtors. Meanwhile Remy helps the singer Beth, who owes a large amount to The Union, and sooner they are chased by the repo men.
Set in the near future when artificial organs can be bought on credit, it revolves around a man who struggles to make the payments on a heart he has purchased. He must therefore go on the run before said ticker is repossessed.
Summary: Jude Law and Forest Withaker star as Repo Men for an artificial organs producing and distributing company. Their work is a bloody one.
Review: I never really understood "So bad it is actually funny".
Until I saw this movie. Especially the organ-scan-mambo at the end; that was really worth not turning off in the middle of the movie when I cursed myself for watching yet another crappy movie cause I'm to lazy to finish the latest Bolitho novel.
Possibly the worst acting performances of both Law and Whitaker. The director apparently really knows how to drown the last bit of acting talent in anyone...
Never mind the implications of being a guy who kills for a company with the sanction of apparently most governments of the world. If you can't pay for something, you give it back. End of story. It's always the same with people, they pay for every crap but as soon as it concerns health, they want it all for free.
Nevermind motivation for developing cures (money), reason for developing cures (money) and what you need to develop cures (money). And a question that bothers me since A.I.: Why does Jude Law look so Slavic when he is supposedly a pure bred Brit?

Highlight: The Mambo

I agree this is not a great movie. The script is particularly weak - what people actually say does not capture the attention. That's why all my respect goes to Jude Law. How he manages to express his personal turmoil through scene after scene is remarkable. We care about this bastard! We react against his wife who comes across as an uncaring, self-regarding cow. An attractive actress, admittedly. We warm to him for loving his son and realise that the boy's love for his dad PROVES he is a fabulous guy in some peculiar way. And my God, he's fit. Jude must spend his life - when he's not working - working out. It's not just that he's a wonderful, ice-cold, unique actor. He has always had this electro-magnetic presence on the screen. He's a star because he has an indefinable 'star quality'. Jude Law is the perfect actor for loner roles. But somebody should write a script for him which is the polar opposite. Maybe Jude as a doctor whose extraordinary compassion makes him unprofessional. Or something.
There's not a lot of humor here, just violence and more violence. The acting is fine enough - Whitaker, of the talented bunch, seems to be having the best time - but the slicing and dicing overpowers the cast, the story and everything else.
Repo Men is based on the novel The Repossession Mambo by Eric Garcia. It's called "Burn My Shadow" by UNKLE. The DVD and Blu-ray disc releases of the film contain both the theatrical version (rated R) and an unrated version of the movie. The longer cut has approximately 7 minutes of additional footage, mostly containing story-driven scenes but also some slight corrections of editing mistakes and some new gore. a5c7b9f00b
