A troubled young man still mourning the childhood loss of his family now has to deal with his professor being turned into a monster.
As a child Jack Brooks witnessed the brutal murder of his family. Now a young man he struggles with a pestering girlfriend, therapy sessions that resolve nothing, and night classes that barely hold his interest. After unleashing an ancient curse, Jack's Professor undergoes a transformation into something not-quite- human, and Jack is forced to confront some old demons... along with a few new ones.
I fail to understand why you would give this film anything over 4... Fair enough it does take me back to the 80s and to the 'good old days of horror comedy' but that genre has not got any better since then - it is still so 'LAME Low budget - low tech - bad acting - bad story line - not at all scary and not funny enough... in fact there is not much good I could say about it. The so called monsters are just hideously bad! I mean we have gone back in time to when they used to make the monsters out of plasticine and shoot the scenes fame by frame... I really fail to understand why someone would invest any money in order to make this script to a film - but I guess it might have been almost OK if it had been a bigger budget film.
Recommendation would be - please do not make the mistake of wasting your time on this unless if you wish to get tips for a bad Halloween make up! Personally I enjoy independent films and anything outside the box but this just did not do it for me in the least.
A non scary non funny horror comedy about a guy with anger issues and not much else who finds his calling as the title suggests as a monster slayer.
The only problem with that, is that that doesn't really happen until the last 10 minutes of the movie, and no that's NOT a spoiler as the title of the movie is "Jack Brooks: MONSTER SLAYER" remember?
If anything it's just false advertisement from the movie company to name it that I guess it was meant as a trilogy or something and this was meant as the origins story or whatever but yeah, it's just kinda dull sitting and waiting for some monsterslaying to get going for over and hour since all characters lack substance .
And once that starts that's all ruined by how terrible the monsters actually look.
Yeah give this one a skip.
Harks back to the drive-in classics of yesteryear with unapologetic nostalgia and undisguised affection.
