28 Oct 2016 Gammon is cured, ham is generally cooked so once you've cooked your gammon you can call it ham. Bone in gammon joints are generally not small so if you don't have a large pot to poach it in you'll need to bake it. You might be able to order a ready to cook gammon from the likes of Waitrose or Marks
To boil and bake a joint (this gives an attractive glazed finish to the fat), boil as above for half the cooking time, drain the joint and wrap it well in foil and place in a roasting tin. Bake for the remainder of the cooking time in a preheated oven at 180°C, gas mark 4 until thoroughly cooked.
