He follows the couple, kills the man and helps the delivery of the baby in the middle of a shootout while a gang of hit-man tries to shoot them up. The woman is killed but Smith saves the baby, escaping from Hertz, the leader of the killers. Then he meets the prostitute Donna Quintano, who has just lost her baby, and asks her to breastfeed the newborn. They are chased by Hertz and Smith discovers the reason why the bad guy wants to kill the baby.A man named Mr. Smith delivers a woman's baby during a shootout, and is then called upon to protect the newborn from the army of gunmen.I don't understand the people complaining about the weak story, the non-stop action and so on. It's a movie called Shoot 'em up. What the hell did you people expect? I expected a roller-coaster and I got it. I admire Clive Owen as well as Paul Giamatti. I won't start commenting Monica Belucci or I won't be able to stop for a few days. And I like shootings. This movie isn't much else than around 90 minutes of shooting. When Braveheart had a smaller, faster, funnier and freakier sibling, it had to be 300. Shoot 'em up is that for Die Hard.
So don't hate this movie. Read the title (now that really isn't asking too much) and you know what you need to know.

And there's Mr. Smith who shoots. Period.There are only two films I have failed to watch to the end, this & Ocean's 12. I saw the 7.2 voting score & thought that it would be a tongue in cheek (Hot fuzz) type of film. I like a little escapism & over the top scene's, but this was just unwatchable in my estimation. I never saw the end, so i'm guessing he was either an indestructible robot, alien that has special reflexes that can dodge thousands of bullets or in a dream & woke up at the end for tea & toast. I think I will have to look into the voting more carefully next time, sorry to bore you all but It says I have to write 10 lines of text to qualify a post.It's just gunfights strung together, without a whisper of coherence or meaning. The fights are staged so that they all look the same, and the principle is always the same: The gunman's multiple antagonists never hit, and he never misses. John Woo at least had fun with this sort of thing 20 years ago. And Giamatti? What the heck is he doing here?Opening shootout / birth scene - "Breed" by Nirvana.
