How to Fold a Hexaflexagon. A hexaflexagon is a paper hexagon that is folded from a strip of paper. As the sides are flexed, or moved, they reveal more surfaces than a standard hexagon would. Like a hexagon, it still has 6 sides. Within
To make a trihexaflexagon follow these easy steps. Cut a strip of paper and mark ten equilateral triangles as shown on the left. Fold the strip back along the line marked cd. Fold the triangle labelled 1 to the back and glue it to the back of the triangle labelled 3*.
Draw a short arc. Move the compass point to the next marking, and draw an arc which intersects the first one. This seems a little obvious, since a flexigon is clearly a mathematical wonder. But I have to say it anyway. This is also an awesome lesson to use for math instruction. I try to cruise through the steps as fast as possible
Make a double thickness by folding each pattern piece in half lengthwise and glue. To make a sharp, straight fold, first score on the fold line. Join the two pieces of the hexa-hexaflexagon together to form a strip of 19 triangles. Glue the strips together by gluing the single triangles together, back-to-back.
There are some instructions on making a hexaflexagon but I have found them (sorry to anyone with an instructables on here) not very helpful. I figured out how to do
So many of you have probably seen the Video by Vi Hart about Hexaflexagons. I found that her 'Tutorial' was to fast paced and I could not keep up so I made this Instructable! But what is a hexaflexagon, that is explained in the video, if you have not yet seen it, below!
Craft project: Instructions and patterns for making flexagons. Flexagons are folded paper polygons that have the neat feature of changing faces as they are 'flexed'.
simple instructions for folding a trihexaflexagon. 1. Cut out the blank template at the left, and crease each of the lines. 2. 2. 2. 3. 1. 1. 3. 1. 1. 3. 2. orient the template as shown: 3. write numbers on it, exactly as shown, with the numbers tilted where shown: 4. flip the template over from top to bottom, so the triangle at the left
