The only way to unjam a whirlway disposal ( if it is jammed and not burnt up) is stick a wooden rod ( like a broom handle- 2 by 2 board) down into the disposal and pry against the blades. Pry both ways, counter clockwise and clockwise. (make sure disposal in unplugged from wall or power is off before trying to unjam).
