A deceased street musician returns to life, and must restore the balance between good and evil to be reunited with his dead girlfriend.
Eric Draven, a musician, and his girlfriend are killed. Draven returns to life as an undead mime, with psychic powers and a spirit guide (a crow). He first avenges his and his girlfriend's deaths, but finds that he must remain on Earth, separate from her, until he restores the balance between good and evil.
I think that the Crow STH tv series is done very well, it really progressed over the first season. You have to remember it is a syndicated show and considering it's continuing the character of Eric Draven, I think it's done EXTREMELY well. It really has explored a lot for a first season. Very daring to put the main character on trial for the murder of HIS girlfriend Shelly. Also it taps into a lot of stuff the movie couldn't. We get into Eric's origins and learn more about who he is. Also the introduction of the Skull Cowboy which couldn't make the first film with Brandon Lee, but should have. I think if you look at it as a seperate show from the movies, you'll really enjoy it. A non-crow movie fan usually likes the show, it's the stubborn fans of the original movie that seem to have a problem because the blood shed it toned down. Anyway all in all, it's a very engaging tv series.
I'm not that fond of the Crow movies -- the first one is okay, but the other two really bite. I do, however, LOVE the television series!
Mark Dacascos does a far better job than Brandon Lee: Lee came across as spiteful, vengeful, and just, well, mean. Dacascos, on the other hand, is compassionate, tormented, and just wants his life back the way it was.
Admittedly, I prefer the earlier part of the series. Things got messy once that blonde cop was added into the mix -- not quite sure where she came from in the editorial process or even why she was added, but it was probably some attempt to increase female presence or to provide a love interest for the cop. In my opinion, big waste of time and just blunted the series' focus.
