21 Feb 2013 BUG: PDF Viewer is not maximized but in texstudio.ini contains the following line: IMO all these bugs (and also my quick fix) are a symptom that we do not distinguish loading and reloading of a pdf properly. In other words changing the window state (e.g. unminimize()) should not be part of load.
6 Sep 2016 In the toolbar over the pdf, there should be a button "Windowed Viewer" (second from left in the image). This will move the pdf back into a separate window. enter image description here. In case your current view is to small to see the button, try View->Show embeded PDF large to fill the whole screen.

21 Aug 2013 It can happen that the splitter between editor and internal pdf viewer is dragged completely to the window border. Check if you can drag it from there. If not, check that Options => Configure TeXStudio => Build => Default Viewer is set to PDF viewer. If it still not works, does it work with "txs:///view-pdf-internal"

14 Dec 2013 2.6.6 is the latest TexStudio Version. At the top left of an open pdf view, there is an icon that shows a split window. Click on that and you'll get the side-by-side view you ask for.
