Yay!
I just finished my first DIY programming hack - I made my sound card's remote work with VLC media player! :D
What I don't really understand is why Creative didn't just make it work automatically, the only thing the remote works with out of the box is their own Creative Mediasource, which is as useless as a hairdryer at the bottom of the ocean. It only plays like 1% of all the video formats available and the interface of the music player is literally so time consuming to use that I'd rather have a buffalo take a diarrhea dump in my ear than use that crap. Each time you want to play a song you have to use the remote to navigate from your hard drive "C:/" to "Documents and Settings" -> "*your name*" -> "My Documents" -> "My Music"... you get the point.
Sure, I used a pretty easily understandable guide to see how to make it work, but I still feel pretty 1337 fiddling with .key and .rci files :P To my ego's defence I think I could've figured it out on my own, but I'd never find either the energy nor the devotion to do something like that xD
