I've always used class 2 splices for VPC. Dyneema, spectra, aramids, vectran, and ropes that are blends with the above should be core to core splices. I tried using the New England fids but I could never get used to them, but if everything is taped well the hook works fine ( I find the Yale fids quicker ).
