A telling of the biblical tale, where Moses returns to Egypt to free the Hebrews from slavery.
When an oracle prophesizes that a child will become Prince of Egypt, a time of danger approaches the kingdom. The Egyptian Pharaoh orders the massacre of all newborn males. But one child, Moses-the son of a Hebrew slave-escapes certain death when he is set adrift on the Nile. As years pass, he is raised in a royal Egyptian household and, with no memory of his family, rises to the stature of prince. Upon discovery of his true heritage, and inspired by a fiery message from God, Moses embarks upon a noble and desperate fight to reclaim his destiny as the leader and liberator of the Hebrew people.
Sticks to the book, but is still way outclassed by the classic. I find the characters hard to follow and not as well-developed as those from the classic. Moses seems to lack necessary skills as a leader, and some moments that could be very powerful are presented in a way that just makes them seem immature and childish. I don't find the motives for actions very well explained or presented in a way by which viewers can understand and sympathize with the characters. Some of the subplots are just confusing, and it's hard to figure out who some of the characters are. I suppose the idea of Moses as a "tortured soul" is a noble thing to try to portray, but quite honestly, it gets old after four hours. Because I have a hard time identifying with any main characters, the show doesn't hold my attention nearly so well as the good old classic does year after year.
I really wish Hollywood would come up with some new ideas and quick. Instead they go around and recreate and mess up a perfectly good movie with a re-make. This movie is awful from the DeMille version. All the way through this movie I was saying to myself, Huh??? - What???? - I don't remember that part. The only exciting thing in this movie so far was the parting of the Red Sea. And in Heston's version - it was a heck of a lot better than this version. Did anyone else see an atomic or nuclear bomb cloud fade in and out when the Red Sea was being parted? I think I did. Anyway, I Might - Might - watch the last part tonight.
I wish Hollywood would tackle different ideas and subject matters when they are making new movies. Instead of re-hashing old films.
They should of left well enough alone.

Well I watched the last part. Did Moses make up the second copy of the ten commandments with his own hand - or was I seeing things - please someone - email me and let me know. HORRIBLE
