Frankenstein's creature finds himself caught in an all-out, centuries old war between two immortal clans.
Dr Victor Frankenstein dies frozen to death and the creature buries him at the cemetery of his family. However he is attacked by demons but he kills one of them and Gargoyles save him and take him to a Cathedral where the Gargoyles Order gathers. The Queen of the Gargoyles Leonore keeps Dr. Frankenstein's journal together with the treasures of the Order and gives the name of Adam to the creature. Then she explains to Adam that there is an ancient war between the Gargoyles that are angels and demons under the command of the Prince Naberius. She also invites Adam to join the Gargoyles in the war against demons, but Adam prefers to isolate in a remote place. Two hundred years later, Adam returns and finds a modern society. Soon he learns that Naberius has the intention of creating an army of soulless corpses to be possessed by demons. The scientist Terra is researching a process to create life and Naberius is seeking Dr Frankenstein's journal to help Terra and raise his army.
Movie was terrible as we all know, judging from the movie i would say they had a limited budget maybe $4 million. what can i say this director did a pathetic job, who wrote the screenplay? or wait he did! i mean what was he thinking? graphics terrible, acting was really poor its like the guys where on a Broadway play. The story could have been better but they just rushed it a little bit too much, i think if they really put in some time in the writing this could have been a hit, they could have broken down the movie into two parts. The first one could have shown how the gargoyles came to be, they could have added some scenes with angels at least one or two. I personally could have done a better job, these guys were just trying to make some quick cash very sad i wonder how they get these jobs.
I read about this one going into pre-production 5 years ago and it was described as a "a film noir re-imagining of the Classic Monsters universe in which a more mentally developed version of Frankenstein's monster makes like a hard-boiled detective, while Dracula plays the role of a crime kingpin." and as a complete idiot that I was, I read that and was like "woah this sounds cool and Aaron Eckhart is Frankenstein he was great in that BATMAN movie" and then I never really thought about the thing again until it came out. This film is not great and to be fair to the excitement of my idiot younger self, the film is not that one described remotely. The final product of I, FRANKENSTEIN involves gargoyles and demons fighting each other for some reason and honestly until partly way through I wasn't sure who was what and who had powers or whatever. But really who cares. At least this thing is only 90 minutes and doesn't take long to get through and at least the visuals of the fights are kind of interesting (I guess...?). Just don't bother with this one, it's a mess and not even remotely entertaining because it's bad, it's just bad.
At the very least, it does provide an easy excuse to sit in a heated room eating popcorn.
