10 Dec 2013 Just make sure to file the end straight after trimming, to bevel the thread before unscrewing the race, and to use a round file to remove burrs from the bore. There really is no need for any fancy tools for cutting threaded steerers; if threadless, then yes the clamp-on cutting guides make things a bit easier.
15 Aug 2017 The best I've come up with so far is using 2 hose clamps and a shallow guide. The fork is a Fox 34 Factory and I believe that's an aluminum steerer so a hacksaw should work fine. I've been trying to think of anything else that I could use as a guide but the clamps seem the best, glad for confirmation.

Works really well, only thing I'd say it that its a little tricky to line up where exactly you want to cut, so best to measure the offset of the saw guide first and then take that into acount so you can line up with the outside of the saw guide.
