8 Jul 2011 I could struggle to start the car with the gas all the way to the floor, and if revved would run but roughly. Once I let it idle it would shake violently and stall. Get the car towed to my mechanic who says it has a dropped valve guide, which would also explain my previous oil consumption problem. It finally went.

30 Aug 2008 Have not pulled the other cylinder head yet. I have searched your forum and this doesn't seem to be a common event. It would appear with the valve guides redone, my 'original' engine may become a candidate for a VW Beetle or Van. Anyone else ever have this problem with valve guides dropping?
